Matthews Beach bathhouse renovation will begin in mid-November. The bathhouse will get a new roof, its restroom will be upgraded to meet ADA accessibility standards, and other features will be improved.  The bathhouse, at Matthews Beach Park in northeast Seattle (49th Ave. NE and NE 93rd St.), is expected to be completed by April 2014.

The beach area and restrooms will be open according to normal seasonal schedules. The contractor will work with Parks staff to make sure access is provided as necessary for special aquatic events.

The Parks and Green Spaces Levy Oversight Committee received City Council approval to use Levy inflation funding for 17 much needed major maintenance projects.  Matthews Beach bathhouse is one such project. The Levy allocates $350,000 to plan, design and construct the Matthews Beach bathhouse.
